tarihin ilk "otoportre"sinin hikayesi

1830lu yillarda Paris'teki entellektüelleri ve ressamlari bir telas alir. Belki tam o siralar böyle adlandirmasalar da bizim su an fotograf dedigimiz sey Nièpce'le somut hale gelmistir.
Bir kaç sene sonra Louis Daguerre'in, gelistirdigi teknikle fotografi ilk defa negatif bir kagit üzerine basma imkani sagladigi söylentileri yayilmaktadir.

Ayni zamanlarda Hippolyte Bayard adli bir resim asigi, ayni sekildeki calismalariyla fotograflayip baskilama teknigini gelistirir ve 39 yilinda tarihin ilk sergisini acar.
Daguerréotype'in Fransiz hükümeti tarafindan resmi olarak taninmasindan sadece iki ay önce olmasina ragmen geç kalinmistir...

Daguerre nasil olduysa kendini kabul ettirmeyi basarmistir ve devletten aldigi 10.000 franki da cebe atmistir. Teselli olarak Bayard'a verilen para 600 franktir...

ve Bayard "ölmüs cesedini" cekip (tabii ki gercekten ölmemistir:) , basip, yazdigi su mektupla hükümete yollar:

"The corpse which you see here is that of M. Bayard, inventor of the

process that has just been shown to you. As far as I know this indefatigable

experimenter has been occupied for about three years with his discovery.

The Government which has been only too generous to Monsieur Daguerre, has said

it can do nothing for Monsieur Bayard, and the poor wretch has drowned himself.

Oh the vagaries of human life....! ... He has been at the morgue for several

days, and no-one has recognized or claimed him. Ladies and gentlemen, you'd

better pass along for fear of offending your sense of smell, for as you can

observe, the face and hands of the gentleman are beginning to decay."

Iste ilk otoportrenin hikayesi... Hala sanat nedir diye soranlara iste bu! diyesim geliyor.
